The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, who concluded a two-day visit to the South American nation on May 24, as reported by Prensa Latina.
Maduro, who had just returned from a tour of Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, received the Cuban Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation on the evening of May 23, during which they discussed issues of common interest.
Referring to the fraternal meeting, Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Delcy Rodríguez, tweeted “The united Patria shall never be defeated!”
Bruno Rodríguez arrived in Venezuela on Sunday, May 22, with the aim of strengthening the bilateral agenda between the two countries in the fields of politics, education, trade and cooperation.

“Cuba will never negotiate, nor yield a millimeter regarding the principles of the Revolution, or its loyalty to the people of Venezuela. This country forms part of the deepest convictions of the Cuban people,” Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated on beginning his official visit to the Bolivarian nation this May 23.
Rodríguez, also a member of the Communist Party of Cuba Political Bureau, began his tour by visiting social programs located in the poor neighborhood of Milagro de Dios in the state of Miranda, where he spoke with Cuban collaborators providing fundamental medical, dentistry, sports and cultural services, working together with Venezuelan community facilitators linked to other key programs such as Robinson II, on education and production.
Accompanied by Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco and Víctor Gaute, coordinator of the Cuban social missions, Rodríguez Parrilla discovered the gratitude of the population of the area for the efforts of the collaborators, and speaking to a group of residents, he reaffirmed the solidarity of the island with the Chavista Revolution.
“It’s a real source of energy and confidence in the future to come to these places and see all their conquests, the recognition of great social demands to whose defense Cuba is committed,” the Foreign Minister stated.
“Our country views with admiration, hope and optimism the constant struggle of the people of Venezuela in dealing with their current problems, and their resistance to the imperialist and oligarchic offensive against the integration of what José Martí called Our America.
“The main battle for the stability of the continent is being waged here, where there is a real danger that threatens the dreams of the liberators, many of which were made a reality by this Revolution.
“Only with the efforts of the united people, the real exercise of popular power, will Venezuela overcome her difficulties,” he added, recalling the example of resistance that Cuba provided in the difficult years of the 1990s given the intensification of the U.S. blockade and political siege.
“It provides great encouragement to see you in your fight to overcome economic constraints and at the same time defend yourselves against the international threat. Venezuela’s struggle today is a heroic struggle,” Rodríguez concluded.
On the afternoon of May 23, accompanied by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodríguez, Venezuelan Vice President of the Economy, Miguel Pérez Abad, members of the Cuban Embassy and collaborators of several missions, the Cuban Minister paid tribute to Simón Bolívar, placing a wreath at his statue in the legendary Caracas plaza of El Libertador.
Following the tribute, he was received at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry by his counterpart Delcy Rodríguez, with whom he held official talks.
