Díaz-Canel visits central province

Diaz Cannel CabaiguánThe importance of linking agricultural production with proper distribution as a means to counter the current high prices in the sector, was highlighted yesterday by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, a member of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee and first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers.

“It is not enough to produce more,” the leader said in a meeting held at the farm of Félix Álvarez, of the Niceto Pérez Cooperative of Credits and Services (CCS), in Punta Diamante, Cabaiguán municipality, during which he also praised the diversification and efficiency achieved by this producer, one of the leaders in the province and the country in the production of tobacco, milk, meat and grains for the state sector.

Accompanied by José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, a member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in Sancti Spíritus, and Teresita Romero Rodríguez, president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power, Díaz-Canel also exchanged with Eliécer Pérez López, of the Nieves Morejón CCS, who has perfected the art of covered tobacco cultivation and today is second to none in the area.

“They say that a sugar harvest that begins well, ends well,” the first vice president stated, on praising the performance of the Uruguay sugar mill in Jatibonico, having toured the plant and spoken with the management.

During his visit, Díaz-Canel also met with management at the José Martí Pérez University of Sancti Spíritus and praised the ongoing integration process, while calling for greater links between the educational process and the computerization of society.

Finally, he visited the Escambray newspaper and exchanged with workers regarding the generation of content for different media, the participation of professionals in editorial decisions and the current challenges facing the Cuban press.
