The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

President Díaz-Canel returns to Pinar del Río to check the progress of the recovery
The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visits Pinar del Río this Thursday for the fifth time since the passage of Hurricane Ian to check the progress of the recovery efforts in the westernmost province of the country. On this visit, in which he exchanges with the people and authorities of Pinar del Río, the Cuban leader is accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Alejandro Gil Fernández.

Cuban Prime Minister received the Minister of Public Security of Vietnam
The member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, received this Thursday, at the Palace of the Revolution, the Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, who is visiting Cuba, heading the a delegation from this sister country. They reveal the visual identity and slogan of the 43rd Havana Film Festival
The new visual identity and slogan of the 43rd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema were presented at a press conference this Thursday in the Cuban capital. Raúl Valdés González (Raupa), one of those in charge of the event’s audiovisual campaign together with Nelson Ponce Sánchez, commented that both the Festival’s poster and advertisement allude to the chain of events that take place in a movie theater, such as a kind of ritual for those who prefer to enjoy a good movie on the big screen.

Some time ago some Cuban artists launched proclamations on their social networks supporting the people, specifically for the events of 11J. They talked about the people, who were next to him. That the suffering of the people, that the people come first, that the people are the most sacred, that the people do this, that the people do that… Today Pinar del Río, Isla de la Juventud, Artemisa, Mayabeque and Havana have suffered from the devastating passage of a hurricane, with Pinar being the most affected region.

International Boxing Association will allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in its competitions
This Wednesday, the International Boxing Association (IBA) announced that its board of directors decided to end the measure that prohibited boxers from Russia and Belarus from competing in events organized by the sports entity. According to the document, the return to the competitions of Russian and Belarusian technical officials is also contemplated. In addition, it was reiterated that the teams of both countries “will be able to act under their flags” and if they win a gold medal, their national anthems will be played.

Cuba prioritizes its epidemiological situation

Cinemas in Havana screen the film “Blonde”
The Yara cinema (from next Thursday to Sunday at 05:00 p.m.) and the Chaplin (Friday to Sunday at 06:00 p.m.) will screen the American feature film Blonde, by Australian director Andrew Dominik, starring Cuban actress Ana de Armas.
