The Sandino commitment

On August 21, in 2005, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez broadcast number 231 of his television program “Aló Presidente” with Fidel at his side, from the municipality of Sandino, in the Cuban province of Pinar del Río. It was an especially hot day in the Villa Bolívar neighborhood, where 150 dwellings had been erected for families left homeless by hurricanes; the hustle and bustle was unusual. Word traveled fast, yes, Chávez and Fidel were there, speaking to all of Venezuela over the air.

Havana to host Congress of the Pan-American Federation of Nursing Professionals

Reservoirs at 35% capacity

At the end of July, the 242 reservoirs administered by the National Water Resources Institute (INRH) held 3.224 billion cubic meters of water, a figure equivalent to 35% of total capacity. According to data released by the INRH’s water conservation directorate, this amount is 2.058 billion cubic meters less than the historic average for the month, and 1.849 billion less than the amount stored in reservoirs at this time last year.
