The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuban doctors make history again in the Peruvian Andes
A group of Cuban health professionals completed their first week of work against Covid-19 in this city in the Andes of northern Peru, which could well be considered the capital of solidarity between both countries. The 27 Cubans re- enact the altruism of the pioneers of Cuban medical solidarity with Peru, who arrived half a century ago in Huaraz to save lives among the rubble of the city devastated by an earthquake in 1970.

The National Botanical Garden grows outward and inward
The National Botanical Garden is closed to the public during these tight times, having broken its visitation record for one day after it reopened in the summer. But this group does not stop in the face of adversity. Their projections grow outward and inward of that beautiful place in the city.

Thank you, Fidel, for being, above all, human
Over the years, many have wondered about the source of the leader of the Cuban Revolution’s inexhaustible energy. How was this exceptional man able to function without rest, with his thoughts perennially directed toward the wellbeing of his people, toward the possibility of a better world with a place for everyone, with rights and opportunities for all?

Díaz-Canel: You took the light of hope, affection and solidarity on these missions
“…You took the light of hope, affection and solidarity on these missions,” stated the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, addressing health professionals who, as part of the Henry Reeve Contingent, joined the COVID-19 battle in the Italian city of Turin and in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, during a meeting July 29, held at the La Pradera International Health Center to welcome them home, in which Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz also participated, among other national authorities.

Cuba’s truth versus the paid lie
A crude anti-Cuban maneuver failed July 3, at the 44th ordinary session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), orchestrated by a mercenary in the service of the U.S. government, in collusion with right wing extremists in Miami. Diplomat Jairo Rodríguez Hernández, member of the Cuban Permanent Mission in Geneva, responded to the slanderous comments made by Ariel Ruiz Urquiola, in an attempt to discredit our country’s international medical cooperation.

Cuba answers slander with more solidarity
It is unlikely that an island country like the Turks and Caicos, barely visible on a world map, would make headlines in the corporate media. Even less so when the news involves Cuban solidarity, inconvenient for the powers that be, capitalist governments that consider healthcare just another commodity. This tiny archipelago is home to a people who cannot escape the dangers of the pandemic and need help.

You have shown the world a truth that Cuba’s enemies have attempted to silence and distort: the strength of Cuban medicine!
“Just a few minutes ago, members of the task force that has been leading our actions to confront the pandemic concluded a meeting, and a group of compañeros have remained here, to participate in this remote reception, which we will make more intimate once you have completed the quarantine; but we did not want to violate protocols the country has established to avoid transmission of the pandemic.”

Long live the friendship between Africa and Cuba!
Since the historical revolution of 1959 that brought to power the socialist government of the Republic of Cuba under the able leadership of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, Cuba has been a true friend of the continent of Africa. Cuba assisted the continent to fight remnants of colonial administrations in Africa, the struggle that Africa will never forget. Cuba has also, always stood with all oppressed people of the world in their quest to free themselves, from all forms of marginalisation and oppression.

Survival
Neide, at 47 years of age, had never donated blood before, not even thought about it, but it would have been hard to imagine the circumstances under which she actually did. Yes, the circumstances, because today’s circumstances accentuate everything that is human and good in a gesture like this. The circumstances, the COVID pandemic, made her donation exceptionally valuable.

Efforts in Cuba that also “save”
Gestures of love and solidarity have always spontaneously occurred during hard times in Cuba – gestures by a people that knows how to rise to the task in the face of difficulties.
Recalling recovery periods following hurricanes produces hundreds of anecdotes, which reflect the essence of this island, where brotherhood among the people is cultivated, the sense of all belonging to the big house, and the virtue that “good is done, just because,” as Martí taught us.
