Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, arrived today in Havana where he will hold a meeting with senior FARC-EP leader, Timoleón Jiménez, with the aim of accelerating the peace process begun in 2012, reported Prensa Latina. After nearly three years of peace talks in Havana, Colombia is about to take another step towards the political solution of the political, military and social conflict it has endured for over half a century. President Juan Manuel Santos made a stopover in Havana to meet with the negotiating team and accelerate the peace process.

Raúl bids farewell to Pope Francis

The Pontiff is currently making his way to the United States, on the second part of his tour, where he will be received by President Barack Obama. There he will speak at a joint session of the U.S. Congress and before the UN General Assembly in New York.
On September 26, he will officiate a mass in Philadelphia and participate in the World Meeting of Families. Before leaving the island, he thanked the Cuban people for their hospitality and warm welcome.
