The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Foreign Researchers to Participate in Technology Convention in Cuba
Some 1,500 researchers and specialists from all regions in the world will participate in the International Convention on Science, Technology and Innovation, which will open here on March 5th, said organizers today. Maria Luisa Zamora, member of the organizing committee, told the Prensa Latina news agency that, with the motto ‘Innovation for sustainable development’.

A total of 98 clinical trials are being conducted at this time around the country addressing different diseases, reported Dr. Alberto Hernández Rodríguez, director of the National Clinical Trials Coordination Center (Cencec), during the International Workshop on Design and Management of Clinical Trials, held in Havana’s Conference Center.

A young Cuban of our times
My conversation with Dr. Enmanuel Vigil Fonseca was a pleasant one. His commitment to helping create a better world place him on the front line of important battles and show that young Cubans also have the chance to help build the Revolution. In this regard he notes, “I chose to become a doctor to help people. My parents had other jobs and ever since I was a young boy I have felt admiration for these people in white coats, who lovingly care for the sick.”

Promising research results
This discovery now means that the next phase of clinical trails on humans can take place. If successful and the neuro-protective qualities of JM-20 are proven, this could lead to the creation of the first product with effective therapeutic properties to treat the condition and its associated effects. The molecule and its derivatives are protected under a 100% national patent.
