The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuban hepatitis B medication undergoing clinical trials
A Cuban medication to treat chronic hepatitis B, HeberNasvac, created by scientists at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB), is currently undergoing clinical trials in collaboration with the French company Abivax. The product has been undergoing safety and efficacy tests for several years, stated a CIGB specialist.

Cuba Discovers Endocranium Cavity of a Sea Cow from Cenozoic Era
A endocranium cavity that probably belonged to one of the species of sirenian, also known as sea cows, was discovered in a quarry of the southern town of Jaguey Grande, in western Cuba. These specimens were common in the tropical seas of the Caribbean region, and the fossil is considered of an exceptional paleontological value, reported Granma newspaper.

Ensuring sustainable economic and social progress
Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez presided over the opening ceremony of the 10th International Convention on the Environment and Development, being held in Havana’s Convention Center until July 10. While opulence and poverty coexist, while a minority holds the resources that hundreds of millions of people lack, there will be no genuinely viable options for progress, said Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya, Cuban minister of Science, Technology and Environment.

Cuba Reiterates Importance on Biological Weapons Convention
Cuba has insisted here in the importance of the strengthening and implementation of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), whose objective is to prevent the development and proliferation of those arsenals. Addressing a BTWC meeting, Cuba representative Juan Antonio Quintanilla explained some actions his country has implemented to comply with what was established by that accord and protect human being and environment.
