The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Fidel and Bosch, two Caribbean beacons for the world
With the presence of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the Third International Symposium: The Cuban Revolution, genesis and development, concluded debates in Havana’s Conventions Center with a focus on Fidel Castro and Juan Bosch. Closing day, also attended by Víctor Gaute López, member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and head of its Ideological Department, featured presentations on the thought and work of the Comandante en Jefe, including those by MSc René González Barrios highlighting Fidel’s internationalism; Fidel and the United States, by Dr. Elier Ramírez Cañedo; and Fidel and Justice, by Katiuska Blanco Castiñeira.

Raúl Castro receives President Diaz-Canel upon returning to Cuba
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, today received the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, upon his return to this capital after a Tour through several countries. Diaz-Canel and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by the Cuban high leader at the bottom of the stairs of the ship where they arrived at the José Martí international airport in the capital this morning, according to a report by Granma newspaper.

Naval repair industry revives in Cuba with new dock
With today’s delivery of a modern floating dock with the capacity to receive ships of up to 65,000 tons of displacement, Cuba is once again inserted in the international market for naval repairs. The structure will allow the repair of Panamax-type ships and was manufactured within 18 months by the Chinese firm National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC), headquartered in Shanghai.

Maduro celebrates Venezuela-Cuba cooperation anniversary
The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, celebrated on Wednesday the 19th anniversary of the first integration project signed between the Bolivarian nation and Cuba, to open the way to cooperation for the development of both peoples. In a message broadcast on Twitter, the Venezuelan president assured that this great step of brotherhood marked the union in Latin America.

There should be no barriers to scientific cooperation between Cuba and the United States

European Parliament, what a shame!
