The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba Presents in Italy Special Western Zone Business Opportunities
A Cuban delegation is presenting here today to Italian entrepreneurs the business opportunities and investments in the Mariel Special Development Zone (MSDZ), located 45 kilometers west of Havana. The meeting, organized by the island’s embassy in this country and the Italy-Cuba Business Committee, will be held at the national headquarters of Confesercenti.

Cuba sends condolences following earthquake in Italy
The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) sent a message of condolence in solidarity with Italy following the earthquake which struck the European nation on August 24, reported the Cuban Foreign Ministry. The message, signed by ICAP President Kenia Serrano, was published on the Ministry website.

Cuba and Italy strengthen cooperation
Italy has been one of the trading partners that has historically valued the Cuban market. Raúl receives President of Italy’s Council of Ministers
Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday afternoon October 28, the honorable Matteo Renzi, President of Italy’s Council of Ministers, who is making an official visit to Cuba. The two leaders held a cordial encounter, discussing the positive development of bilateral relations and expressing their intention to broaden economic cooperation and strengthen academic and cultural exchanges. Italian airline expands flights to Cuba
The Italian airline Neos is considering a new flight to the central Cuban province of Villa Clara. Mid October saw the arrival of the company’s first flight to the keys – the province’s main tourist destination – located off the region’s northern coastline, reports EFE. Onboard this first flight were some 200 Milan-based tour operators and travel agents who arrived to the province’s Abel Santamaría International Airport, interested in the quality of services and variety of tourist options offered on the island’s north-eastern keys, renowned for their virtually pristine beaches.

President of Italian Council of Ministers to visit Cuba
Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, president of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, will arrive on the island this Tuesday, October 27, on an official visit. During his stay, the distinguished visitor will hold official talks with Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, president of the Councils of State and Ministers, as well as undertaking other activities.
