The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

United Nations System donates water purification plant for victims of Hurricane Ian in Pinar del Río

As part of the emergency response after the devastating effect of Hurricane Ian in western Cuba and particularly in the province of Pinar del Río, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Office of The Resident Coordinator (OCR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cuba joined forces for the acquisition of a Kit Watsan No. 5 water treatment plant. This mobile team will be transferred to Pinar del Río to meet the urgent water and sanitation needs of the population most affected by the passage of Hurricane Ian.

United Nations links Cuba in renewable energy program

The largest region of Cuba is benefited by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the donation of 342 photovoltaic panels for families affected by weather phenomena. The two-kilowatt power equipment comes from the European Union and is manufactured in China, distributed in the four provinces of central Cuba (Camagüey, Ciego Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara), which were affected in 2017. by Hurricane Irma, specifically in the northern municipalities.

Cuba thanks Russia for humanitarian aid

July 25, two An-124 aircraft landed at Havana’s José Martí International Airport, carrying 88 tons of food and a million medical facemasks, as part of a donation from the Russian Federation. Party Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla posted a tweet thanking Russia for a humanitarian donation that arrived in Cuba aboard two aircraft July 25.

Cuba keeps solidarity movement for blood donation

President Miguel Díaz-Canel underlined on Monday that Cuba keeps its solidarity movement to save lives through blood donations despite the impact of Covid-19. In his account in twitter, the president remembered the World Blood Donor´s Day, celebrated today. Covid-19, having stopped so many things, has not being able to stop this solidarity movement in Cuba, he wrote.

Canadian medical donation arrives in Cuba

Toronto´s ‘Juan Gualberto Gómez’ Association of Cuban Residents on Saturday made a donation of medical supplies to Cuba´s Holguín health centers for preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. On Facebook, the Canadian association announced Saturday afternoon the arrival of syringes, gloves, medicines, face masks, bandages, gauze and disposable gowns, among other necessary medical supplies, at Holguín´s ‘Frank País’ International Airport.

Cuba´s President thanks Chinese people and government´s solidarity

Cuba´s President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Saturday thanked the Chinese people and government for their solidarity, after a recent donation of 38 ventilators.
Miguel Díaz-Canel tweeted that ‘China donates 38 lung ventilators to Cuba. Our gratitude (…) for its permanent solidarity and faithful friendship.’ On Friday, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelino Medina and the Chinese Ambassador in Cuba Chen Xi signed the certificate of donation delivery.
