The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Lang Lang and Chucho Valdés Will Perform Together in Cuba
Famous pianists Lang Lang, of China, and Cuban Chucho Valdés, will share an outdoor concert in this capital on October 9, confirmed recently one of the organizers of the event. The New York Times describes Lang as the best classic artist in the planet, while Time magazine included him among the most influential 100 people in the world.

Two Havana attractions: Carnival and the Malecón
Only on the Malecón, where the sea breeze which lords over Havana is best enjoyed, is it possible to withstand the scorching heat of the tantalizing conga music, queen of carnival, the largest mass celebration of the year. Over these hot August weekends (7-9 and 14-16), Havana residents are enjoying the city’s traditional carnival celebrations; some simply reclining on the Malecón, while others sit in the bleachers, expectantly awaiting the dance troupes as they parade past the judges, while the most eager seek out the designated dance areas.

The Republic of Congo, August 5, 2015. Cuba’s participation as guest country of honor in the 10th edition of the Pan African Music Festival (FESPAM) was the motive for the meeting held between Jean-Claude Gakosso, Congolese minister of Culture and Arts and Maydolis B. Sosa Hilton, Cuba’s acting ambassador in this country. Ernesto Lecuona is Reborn in Cuba 120 Years After Birth
The Marti Theater of this capital looked its best in a homage by The Cuban National Ballet to master Ernesto Lecuona, who was reborn to his music and dance 120 years after his birth.
Through elegant and precise interpretations, the company recreated yesterday essential pieces of the repertoire of Lecuona, known as the most universal of Cuban musicians. The director of the Cuban National Ballet, Alicia Alonso, accompanied her dancers in a special performance that made inmortal to who she described as an extraordinary creator, defender of significant characteristics of our idiosyncracy.

The emblematic site of the Moncada Barracks is preparing to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the heroic deeds lead by Fidel Castro on July 26, 1953, and the 500th anniversary of the founding of Santiago. Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, in the midst of the prevailing excitement surrounding the visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, announced on July 23 last year in Céspedes Park, that both events would be celebrated this year at the same time as the assault of 1953.
