Díaz-Canel: This economic plan requires rigor, discipline and control

Cuba’s President and Prime Minister led a meeting of the Council of Ministers at the end of February, to analyze the economy’s performance in the first month of the year, and other issues. The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, emphasized the premises that must guide the management of this year’s Economic Plan: “rigor, discipline and control,” adding, “We cannot admit any failure to meet projections with the excuse of fuel shortage.”

Cuban President on government visit to Mayabeque

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez began his government visit to the western province of Mayabeque at a pork breeding center, located in Santa Cruz del Norte, devoted to the development of small livestock with Creole genetics, which and will provide breeding stock for three other facilities, according to Presidency’s Twitter account. Here, the President learned about the production of rum, alcohol, liquor and CO2, asking as well about workers’ salaries, environmental protection and the reuse of waste.

With pleasure I have read dozens of messages posted on the Presidency’s website, regarding the January call to pay just tribute to the most universal of Cubans. Some of these are so beautiful they make you want to reproduce them as graffiti. Although only names or pseudonyms are written, no professions or ages, it is very comforting to note that, in addition to numerous well-known followers of Martí, the majority are educators and young people interested in making their feelings about Martí public.

Speaking during the High Level Segment of the 43rd ordinary session of the Human Rights Council, he added that neoliberal policies imposed by the northern nation violate economic, social and cultural rights and prevent other nations from exercising their right to development.

This is the meaning that the Dictionary of the Spanish Language provides for the verb “to block.” A consensual interpretation for the word, offered from the perspective of linguists and scholars of our language. Nonetheless, as respectable as these definitions may be, the subjective insight of human beings could considerably broaden the Academy’s definition, in fact all the scientific power of this linguistic arena could not gather all the interpretations.

A bilateral decision has been made to seek alternatives to overcome the empire’s attacks in sensitive areas, including efforts to revitalize the Barrio Adentro community health and sports missions; strengthen the Diabetes Patient Care Program, which currently has a presence in all 24 states; prepare 48 new Bolivarian apiary cores; reduce the illiteracy rate to 2% through Mission Robinson; and contribute to food self-sufficiency and the promotion of a new agro-productive culture with an impact in the country’s 24 states.
