The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Throughout the current health emergency, Cuban families have promoted good health practices and continue to play a leading role in the education of younger generations. Nobel Peace Prize for Cuban doctors continues to gain supporters
More than 40 European organizations are backing a proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Cuban medical brigades of the Henry Reeve Contingent, for their contribution to the global battle against COVID-19. Launched April 28 by the associations Cuba Linda and France Cuba, the initiative has thus far received the support of solidarity groups, political organizations and unions for “Prix Nobel de la paix pour les brigades médicales cubaines Henry Reeve.”

Call for world governments to include sports in post-pandemic programs
We all know that the Olympic Games promote fellowship among the more than 200 countries present in each edition. This is not, however, the only environment on earth capable of creating a fraternal atmosphere on the sports field. The world class athletes, convoked to these events (some 10,000 every four years) are a tiny portion of the millions inhabiting the planet, who do not always have access to sports given the paucity of government policies to support such activity and improve quality of life.

Cuba insists on maintaining preventative measures to control COVID-19
The Cuban government reiterated its decision to maintain measures adopted to control COVID-19 and not lower our guard despite the increasingly lower numbers of patients confirmed per day, six this Monday, as well as the reduced number of active patients, 159 of 1,947 total cases confirmed since March 11. During the first of these regular meetings this week chaired by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz .

Novel molecule shows promising results against COVID-19

Cuba salutes the peoples of Africa
The President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, sent a message of congratulations to African peoples, on behalf of all Cuban legislators, on the occasion of Africa Day, May 25. The message emphasized that the date is “as significant for that continent as it is for Cuba, because of the deep ties that unite us” and reaffirms that “African heritage is a fundamental part of our culture, our beliefs and our customs.”

Díaz-Canel recognizes key contribution of Cuban science in COVID-19 battle
The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, recognized the key contribution made by Cuban science in the battle the country is waging against COVID-19, during a May 18 visit to the Cuban Neuroscience Center, where he spoke with several scientists who have been on the front lines of the battle. Long live the friendship between Africa and Cuba!
Since the historical revolution of 1959 that brought to power the socialist government of the Republic of Cuba under the able leadership of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, Cuba has been a true friend of the continent of Africa. Cuba assisted the continent to fight remnants of colonial administrations in Africa, the struggle that Africa will never forget. Cuba has also, always stood with all oppressed people of the world in their quest to free themselves, from all forms of marginalisation and oppression.
