The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

UN: Leaders Oppose Unilateral Measures
United Nations, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) The heads of State and Government of one hundred countries reaffirmed their rejection of the promulgation of unilateral economic, financial and commercial sanctions that prevent a full economic and social development. They said those actions particularly hit underdeveloped countries, according to a statement approved in a high level meeting of the UN General Assembly on the Rule of Law.

Caracas, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban baseball team held today in front of the child Mundialito VII of discipline held in Margarita, Nueva Esparta state, with four wins in five times at ground. Yesterday, the Cubans made 20 runs to beatcomfortably the Dominican 20-11, as did Mexico, second in the tournament, who won Colombia 3-0.

Cuban Students’ Organization to Celebrate 90th Anniversary
Havana, Aug 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuba”s Federation of University Students (FEU) will evaluate its work this week, as part of activities to celebrate its 90th anniversary in December, local media reported on Sunday. The program of actions on the FEU’s anniversary will include all Cuban universities, which will hold social, sports, cultural and recreational events, said the organization’s president, Carlos Rangel, quoted by the newspaper Juventud Rebelde

Isaac Leaves Floods and Heavy Rains in Cuba
Havana, Aug 26 (PL) Light to moderate floods and rainfall throughout Cuba are the predominant elements in Sunday”s forecasts for Tropical Storm Isaac, which increased its strength after leaving Cuban territory. Cuban Parliament Commissions Discuss Social, Economic Issues
The Cuban National Assembly begins today three days of work of its 12 permanent commissions to analyze social and economic issues prior to the 9th Ordinary Period of Sessions, scheduled for Monday, July 23. The Havana’s Conference Center is the venue of the second parliamentary day. Cuba Reiterates Importance on Biological Weapons Convention
Cuba has insisted here in the importance of the strengthening and implementation of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC), whose objective is to prevent the development and proliferation of those arsenals. Addressing a BTWC meeting, Cuba representative Juan Antonio Quintanilla explained some actions his country has implemented to comply with what was established by that accord and protect human being and environment.
