Cuba to Host International Meeting on History, Art and Medicine

Health curiosities and their links with history and art will be the main topics of the international colloquium Histarmed, which will bring together researchers from some 10 countries in Latin America and Europe, said organizers today. Specialists from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Spain and Italy, as well as the host country Cuba, will participate in Histarmed, organized by the Medical Sciences University of Havana, from March 8th.

Raúl receives U.S. Congressional delegation

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday afternoon received a delegation from the United States Congress, led by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont). The group also included two other Democratic Senators, Ron Wyden from Oregon and Gary Peters from Michigan, and House Representatives James McGovern (D-Massachusetts) and Susan Davis (D-California).

Preparations underway for the 2019 Cuban trade union congress

Preparations for the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC) 21st Congress will characterize union activities this 2018, which entails an assembly process of all collectives to collect opinions, demands, and guidelines to be evaluated at the national event, stated CTC Secretary General Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, a member of the Communist Party of Cuba Political Bureau, during a press conference.

U.S. legislators support expanding ties with Cuba

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday afternoon, February 21, received a delegation from the United States Congress, led by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) and Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi), including as well Senators Thomas Udall (D-New Mexico) and Michael Bennett (D-Colorado), Representatives James McGovern and Seth Moulton, Democrats from Massachusetts, as well as Jeffrey DeLaurentis, acting chargé d’affaires at the U.S. embassy in Cuba.

Provincial meetings to study Party Congress documents begin today

Meetings to study documents which will be submitted to the Communist Party of Cuba 7th Congress for consideration and approval begin today in all of the country’s provinces. The bulk of those in attendance will be delegates elected this past month to participate in the Party’s most important event, scheduled to take place in Havana, April 16-18.

Cuban Small Farmers Consider Positive Agricultural Cooperative

The 11th Congress of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) assessed as positive the economic activity the cooperatives are developing, and called for a more comprehensive use of bank credit and insurance. ANAP President Rafael Santiesteban said during the final session of the event closed this weekend that the working commission carried out an extensive debate.
