The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Delegates to the Eighth Party Congress to be elected March 4
The 11th plenary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, in December of 2019, agreed that the Eighth Congress would be held April 16-19, 2021. During this past year, amidst other important tasks and the additional complexities involved in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic, steps were taken to prepare for the event. On December 2, 2020, the Congress convocation was issued, along with the topics to be addressed.

Díaz-Canel congratulates Workers Party of Brazil
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez yesterday tweeted his congratulations to the Workers Party (PT) of Brazil, on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of its founding, February 10, 1980. In his message, the President expressed his appreciation of the organization’s years of struggle and recalled the significance of the 2003 victory at the polls of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, leader of the PT.

Machado Ventura emphasizes the role of Party schools in strengthening revolutionary ideology

Council of State holds important session
The Council of State analyzed four draft bills to be submitted to the National Assembly of People’s Power’s Fifth Period of Ordinary Sessions, scheduled October 28, including proposed legislation regarding Foreign Service; the revocation of elected People’s Power representatives; the organization and functioning of the Council of Ministers, as well as the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the Republic.

Political Bureau discusses issues to be addressed during 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba

On this occasion, analyzed was the document entitled “Assessment of policies regarding Party cadres, the Young Communists League, mass organizations, the state and government. Led by its First Secretary, Army General Raul Castro Ruz, the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee met yesterday, October 13. Events on August 16-17, 1925, forever marked Cuba’s destiny. On these dates, a group of courageous men founded our first Communist party, the indispensable link between patriotic thinking of the 19th century, fundamentally that of Martí, and the ideals of social emancipation of later eras. They understood the value of continuity.
