The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba Concludes Int”l Workshop on Anti-Cancer Vaccine
More than 100 Cuban and foreign researchers continues debating today in Havana on progresses and new actions of CIMAvax-EGF, first therapeutic vaccine registered for lung cancer. The event, to be concluded today, was opened yesterday at the Havana’s Conference Center, an excellent opportunity to assess new strategies of the medicine, such as its implementation in medical practice, indications and therapeutic combinations.

President Raul Castro Returned to Havana
President Raul Castro returned to this capital yesterday night after a tour of Algeria, Russia and Italy, nations that showed a great hospitality towards the Caribbean nation. Raul Castro was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport by Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, and Interior Minister, Army Corps General Abelardo Colome Ibarra. During the last stage of his tour, the president was welcomed in private audience by Pope Francis for 55 minutes.

Pope Francis met today with Cuban President Raul Castro in a private audience of about 55 minutes held in the halls near the Paul VI room of the Vatican. The President travels accompanied by Vicepresident of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, among other representatives of his government. He was received by the Swiss guard of honor and the prefect of the Pontiff s House, Georg Gaenswein.

The Paradoxical theme of US tourism in Cuba
Christopher Columbus did not visit Cuba as a tourist but, withoutdoubt, he has been the leading propagandist of tourism to the Caribbean island in recorded history. Liberia Is Free of Ebola, World Health Organization Declares
The World Health Organization declared Liberia free of Ebola today, making it the first of the three hardest hit West African countries to bring a formal end to the epidemic. More than 4,608 deaths from Ebola have been recorded in Liberia, more than in any other affected country. Putin receives Raúl in the Kremlin
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, received the Cuban President Raúl Castro Ruz in the Kremlin with a strong embrace and thanked him for having traveled to the capital to participate in the celebrations commemorating the 70th anniversary of fascism’s defeat, which will take place on May 10, in the capital’s Red Square. Putin stated that he recalled “with affection” his last visit to Cuba, in 2014. In addition, he described diplomatic relations between Russia and the Island as long and historic, with the 55th anniversary of the reestablishment of said ties to be celebrated this Friday.

French President to Arrive in Cuba Tomorrow
President of France, François Hollande, will arrive in Cuba tomorrow for an official visit. During his stay, Hollande will hold talks with Cuban President Raul Castro, and will carry out other activities, Granma newspaper reported. The President will arrive in Cuba from Guadalupe, as part of a Caribbean tour that also included the French overseas territories Martinique, St. Martin and St. Barts, and that will continue afterwards to Haiti. Hollande, of the Socialist Party (PS), became President of France in May 2012, after winning his opponent Nicolas Sarkozy -candidate of Union for a Popular Movement- in the second round of the elections.
