The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

President of Italian Council of Ministers to visit Cuba
Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, president of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, will arrive on the island this Tuesday, October 27, on an official visit. During his stay, the distinguished visitor will hold official talks with Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, president of the Councils of State and Ministers, as well as undertaking other activities.

United Nations to vote tomorrow on blockade
The international community will declare its position on the blockade, tomorrow October 27, in the United Nations General Assembly, for the first time since December 17, 2014, when Cuba and the United States began a new chapter in the history of their relationship, which led to the reestablishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of embassies in Havana and Washington.

Díaz-Canel receives Vice President of South Africa

Promoting bilateral trade
Yesterday, October 22, the Vice President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, stated that no other country has contributed more to Africa than Cuba, and highlighted the solid foundations on which relations between Havana and Pretoria have been constructed.
Ramaphosa who arrived on the island October 22, on an official visit to the country, inaugurated the Cuba-South Africa business forum.

Close to 150 thousand Ecuadorans recover their sight with the help of Cuba
CLOSE to 150 thousand Ecuadorans suffering from cataracts and pterygium have recovered their sight thanks to the cooperation provided by Cuba to the South American country since July 2006, sources from the island’s medical brigade operating in the country confirmed this October 17.

An artistic ode to the national anthem
An artistic gala full of allusions to the nation’s roots was held in this city as part of the 11th Festival of Cuban Identity (Fiesta de la Cubanía), with a special rendition of Cuba’s national anthem, the military march “La Bayamesa”, first performed on October 20, 1868. The ceremony which combined music, dance and theater took place in the very square where the people first sang the march, written by independence hero Pedro Figueredo (Perucho)

Cuba: End The Blockade Immediately!
A Resolution on “ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” will once again be presented to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 October 2015. There is a special significance about bringing the Resolution, overwhelmingly endorsed by the UNGA for 23 consecutive years, to the attention of the world body this time. Peace process begins to heal wounds
After almost three years, the Colombian peace process currently underway has made important advances on the issue of reparations for victims and the search for the truth, two topics vital to the post-conflict phase. According to ¡Basta ya! (Enough Already!) Colombia: Memories of War and Dignity, of the National Center for Historical Memory. (CNMH), the over 50 year war, one of the longest in the region, has resulted in the displacement of six million people, 220,000 dead, and almost 30,000 kidnapped.
