Dialogue among youth, with Fidel always in mind

florFaithful to the legacy of Fidel Castro, young people in Pinar del Río are discussing current challenges facing the world’s population and the conquests of the Revolution, while reiterating their pride as Cubans, as part of the Provincial Festival of Youth, August 7-8.

Spirited delegates attending the event met in different venues in the city and reaffirmed their commitment to continue perfecting socialism.

Participant Carlos Rafael Gómez Iglesias noted that youth from many different sectors were on hand to discuss important issues, in the lead-up to the upcoming World Festival of Youth, in the Russian city of Sochi.

He emphasized the importance of internalizing the ideas Fidel outlined in his concept of Revolution, working everyday with heart to uphold the legacy of one of the greatest thinkers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Ana Leydis Iglesias Cruz, first secretary of the Young Communists League in the province, highlighted the friendship and cultural understanding the world event promotes, saying that the delegates from Pinar del Río will demonstrate how Cuba’s socialist society defends the human rights of its members, and will support condemnations of fascism, racism, imperialism and all forms of oppression, at the World Festival.

In a workshop on the thought of Fidel and José Martí in Cuban education, Yusuam Palacios, president of the José Martí Youth Movement, emphasized the need to study history, to remember, and defend the values of socialism.
