Díaz-Canel receives Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo

Diaz CongoThe First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, held official talks this Monday, April 17, with the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo, His Excellency Clément Mouamba, who is currently undertaking an official visit to the island.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed the historic and fraternal political relations and cooperation between Cuba and the Congo and reiterated their mutual will to maintain and expand these ties. They also exchanged views on various issues on the international agenda.

Díaz-Canel expressed gratitude for the Republic of the Congo’s unconditional support for Cuba’s demand for an end to the U.S. blockade, expressed both in the UN General Assembly and the African Union.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by His Excellency Bruno Jean Richard Itoua, Minister of Higher Education; H.E. Jacqueline Lydia Mikolo, Minister of Health and Population; Cabinet Minister H.E. Rigobert Maboundou; Pascal Onguemby, Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to Cuba; and H.E. Albert Nkoua, adjunct secretary general and head of department for Africa, Europe, America, Asia and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Congolese Nationals Abroad.

Representing Cuba were Minister of Public Health Roberto Morales Ojeda; Minister of Higher Education José Ramón Saborido Loidi; Ileana Núñez Mordoche, deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; Rogelio Sierra Díaz, deputy minister of Foreign Affairs; José M. Serrano Acosta, Cuba’s Ambassador to the Congo; and other Foreign Ministry officials.
