Raúl receives delegation from U.S. Congress

Raul y congresistasArmy General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday afternoon, February 21, received a delegation from the United States Congress, led by Senators Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) and Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi), including as well Senators Thomas Udall (D-New Mexico) and Michael Bennett (D-Colorado), Representatives James McGovern and Seth Moulton, Democrats from Massachusetts, as well as Jeffrey DeLaurentis, acting chargé d’affaires at the U.S. embassy in Cuba.

Issues of interest to the two countries were discussed during the meeting.

Also participating on the Cuban side were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez; Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; and Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, director general for the United States for the Ministry of Foreign Relations.

Prior to this meeting, the Congressional delegation was received by Ministers Rodríguez Parrilla and Malmierca Díaz, as well as Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero, minister of Agriculture.
