Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, presided the ceremony held at the Revolutionary Armed Forces Ministry as the caravan bearing the remains of the undefeated Comandante en Jefe departed.
The provinces of La Habana, Mayabeque, Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Villa Clara overflowed with respect, loyalty, and fidelity, along the historic route taken by the Caravan of Liberty in January of 1959, this time in reverse, toward Santiago de Cuba. Just as was the case 58 years ago, this is a triumphant march, and once again the people receive Fidel with affection and commitment to his concept of Revolution.
