CUBAN AND U.S. AUTHORITIES EXCHANGE IDEAS ON DEALING WITH TERRORISM

banderas cubaeeuu_CUBA, 9 June 2016. On Wednesday, June 8th a technical meeting took place in Havana between the Cuban and U.S. authorities in charge of preventing and dealing with terrorism, for the purpose of exchanging ideas on the possibilities of cooperation in this area.

The Cuban Delegation was composed of representatives from the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Relations, the Attorney General’s Office and General Customs of the Republic. The United States was represented by officials from the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice as well as the Embassy of the United States in Havana.

Both countries’ delegations agreed on the importance of moving forward on cooperation in this area and they agreed to continue holding technical meetings on this subject in the future.

The meeting took place in a climate of respect and professionalism.
