Cuban FM Meets US Counterpart in Washington

eua_bruno_kerryCuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez met today with his US counterpart John Kerry at the State Department at the end of the official ceremony of reopening of the embassy of Cuba in this capital.
he Cuban flag was hoisted today at the cuban Embassy, a few hours after the official ceremony for the reestablishment of bilateral diplomatic links that was led by Rodriguez.

The event was attended by more than 500 US figures, including Assistant Secretary of State for Hemispheric Affairs, Roberta Jacobson, as well as other government officials, intellectuals, Congress members and experts.

A Cuban delegation of some thirty representatives of different sectors travelled to Washington to attend the opening ceremony.

US officials confirmed today in Havana that the Interest Section became the US Embassy and as of today, dipolomatic relations were reestablished between the two countries.

According to the ofifical release, this event is in line with the announcement made in July 1st by President Barack Obama.

According to US press reports, Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Havana on Aug. 14 to attend the official ceremony of inauguration of the US Embassy, but no confirmation has been made by US authorities.

    I would still consult Fidel first.

    I love Cuba, and would be quite brokenhearted if this beautiful country were to fall into the collapse that Fidel and others worked so hard to rescue her from.

    Peace and possibility , I guess I will hope for the best behavior of the USA and the Banking systems.
