On the evening of June 18, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received Pham Quang Nghi a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Political Bureau and secretary of the Party Committee in Ha Noi City, and the delegation accompanying him.
During the cordial encounter, the two officials discussed the excellent state of political relations between both parties and governments, opportunities to expand trade and cooperation as well as issues of international interest.
Pham Quang Nghi was accompanied by Vietnam’s Ambassador to Cuba, Duong Minh. Participating on the Cuban side were José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the PCC-CC; Mercedes Ló pez Acea, a member of the Party Political Bureau and first secretary of the Party in Havana; and José Ramón Balaguer Cabrera and Oscar Mar tínez Cor dovés, head and deputy head of the PCC-CC International Relations department, respectively.
