Raúl receives Deputy Prime Minister of Laos

Raul  LAOsArmy General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received compañero Thongloun Sisoulith, politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, who is currently on an official visit to the island, on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 17.

Within a fraternal atmosphere, Raúl and Sisoulith recalled key moments of the historic relationship that binds the two countries and their peoples’ struggle for sovereignty and independence. They emphasized the excellent state of bilateral relations and their mutual desire to strengthen cooperation ties. Likewise, they exchanged views on relevant issues on the international agenda.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Thongsavanh Phomvihane, deputy head of Foreign Affairs of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party; Buakeo Phumvongsay, ambassador to Cuba; Khouanta Phalivong, director general of the Europe-America Department and Moukdavanh Sisoulith, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Cuban side were Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, minister of Foreign Affairs and member of the PCC Political Bureau and Gerardo Peñalver Portal, director general of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
