La Paz, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) Bolivian President Evo Morales today considered that the cancellation of the fight permit to his airplane by various European countries constitutes a pretext to silence the socialist governments social struggles.
In a press conference from Vienna’s Schwechat airport, the president said that Spain, Portugal, Italy, and France’s decision to prohibit Bolivian presidential airplane to fly over their territories is part of a policy aimed at causing fear.
“We are not in times of colonies, some European countries are wrong when trying to frighten us,” said Morales.
The Bolivian president said that despite those policies, the peoples’ voice, rights, and dignities could not be silenced.
Morales said that the incident is not only an aggression against him, but also against Bolivia and Latin America.
“They will have to explain to the world the reason of that detention,” said Morales, who also announced the beginning of a legal process to investigate the incident.
On Tuesday, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal cancelled the flight permit of Morales’ airplane, after suspicions that former CIA agent Edward Snowden was on board.
Spain was the last European country to allow Morales airplane to fly over its territory, and initially conditioned the permit to an inspection of the crew and passengers.
