Chavez Describes Elections as a Perfect Battle

Caracas, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) President Hugo Chavez described today as impeccable, a perfect battle, the polls of October 7 in which he was re-elected for the term 2013-2019.

In a press conference at the Ayacucho Hall of Miraflores Palace, Chavez said that day consolidated what he said after casting his vote: “If anyone wants to see a vigorous, honorable and sound democracy, he/she should come to Venezuela.”

He congratulated the people for the high turnout of over 80 percent, as well as the National Electoral council and the different players involved in the electoral process, including the National Bolivarian Armed Force, which deployed 139,000 troops and guaranteed security, with no incident reported.

President Chavez also ratified his willingness to promote mechanisms of dialogue with opposition sectors.

“I wish all sectors of the national life joined the process of permanent dialogue and the construction of our country in line with the Constitution,” he said.

He repeated his call to opposition leaders to speak clearly and show their willingness to coexist, as some representatives understand dialogue as a pact of elites and an imposition, he said.
