First Cuban Victory at World Volleyball League

The Cuban men”s volleyball team, placed second in the world, defeated South Korea 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-18, and 25-18) on Sunday, during the World Volleyball League being disputed in that city. The athletes of Orlando Samuels played a much more offensive game today, achieving their first victory and recording their first three points of the event.

Under the leadership of Henry Bell, the highest scorer with 21 points, captain Wilfredo Leon (16), and Fernando Hernandez (15), the Cuban team retook the course after having lost the first set.

Next week, Cuba will face Italy (fourth place in the world) in the cities of Ancona and Andria, a highly demanding encounter for Samuels and his athletes.
