The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

FARC Reaffirms Commitment to Land Access in Colombia
Havana, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) reaffirmed here today its commitment to help Colombian peasants gain their long-desired access to land. Ivan Marquez, head of the FARC-EP delegation involved in peace talks with representatives of the Colombian government, said in a statement that the FARC will spare no effort at the negotiation table, and hopes that government will not consider “kicking over the table.”

Caracas, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, on Monday congratulated his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro for his ratification by the State Council. President Hugo Chavez, together with the people and government of Venezuela, sent its warmest congratulations to revolutionary leader Raul Castro, on his reelection as President of the Council of State of Cuba, said a statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

Havana Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) The Eighth Legislature of the People’s National Assembly was constituted here today after deputies swear to their responsibilities as part of the supreme body of state power that represents the will of the people. In the Havana Convention Center, usual venue of Parliament, those elected in the elections of February 3 presented the certificates accrediting them as members and signed their oaths, with an attendance of 98.37 percent.

At the Havana’s Conference Center, permanent venue of the conversations, the parties come to this third day of talks of this fifth cycle, while the issue of truce comes to light again not only in Havana but also in Colombia, where the armed conflict has already intensified in several areas of the country for more than 50 years.
