Vietnamese Prime Minister Talks with Cuban Representative

Vietnam”s Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held talks here with the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Jose Ramon Balaguer on the deep bilateral relations, local media highlighted today. Dung delivered the main speech at the celebration of 40th anniversary of the liberation of the south, and afterwards met with the heads of the three invited delegations from Cuba, Laos and Cambodia.

Cuba and UK Reach Important Agreements During Business Forum

Agreements worth 400 million dollars was the result of the three-day business forum carried out by 30 British companies and their Cuban counterpart, which concluded yesterday in Havana. The agreements include the construction of a new golf course, investments in agriculture and energy projects, said John Hutton, co-president of the Initiative Cuba, a British-Cuban project that promotes bilateral Exchange.

Japan Foreign Minister Visits Cuba

Japan”s Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida will visit Cuba from today to May 3, the embassy of that Asian nation in Havana informed. According to that diplomatic source, the foreign minister will hold working meetings with authorities from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean island. A group of Japanese business people will arrive in along with the official.

Two Deaths and Property Damage from Heavy Rains in Havana

Two casualties and material damage yet to quantify is the balance of heavy rains in the capital, reports Granma newspaper. Sources from the Civil Defense informed that the dead are a lady of 81 years, who died by drowning due to a flood, and a young man of 24 years, died electrocuted because of falling power lines. Specialists Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology reported that a line of severe thunderstorms formed quickly in the Straits of Florida ahead of a cold front, advanced on the capital from the early hours of Wednesday afternoon.

Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel, welcomed here today the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Barcena.
