The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

United Nations System donates water purification plant for victims of Hurricane Ian in Pinar del Río
As part of the emergency response after the devastating effect of Hurricane Ian in western Cuba and particularly in the province of Pinar del Río, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Office of The Resident Coordinator (OCR) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Cuba joined forces for the acquisition of a Kit Watsan No. 5 water treatment plant. This mobile team will be transferred to Pinar del Río to meet the urgent water and sanitation needs of the population most affected by the passage of Hurricane Ian.

President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources evaluates investments in the aqueduct in Villa Clara
Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), toured the works being carried out in Santa Clara to ensure water service to the population and its quality. At the water treatment plant of the Central University Marta Abreu de Las Villas (UCLV), he confirmed that intense work is being done on her rehabilitation and improvement in the driver, to leave her ready before the restart of the school year, on September 5. The head of the branch also appreciated the construction progress in the Cerro Calvo water treatment plant.

Cuban government checks epidemiological situation and other issues related to the population
Actions to control dengue in the country continue; In recent days, there has been an improvement in the confrontation efforts, however, at the end of last week, transmission was reported in 14 provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, 41 municipalities, and 50 health areas. From August 14 to 20, week 33 of the year, transmission was opened in the provinces of Mayabeque (in the municipality of Güines), Cienfuegos (in Rodas) and Guantánamo (in Caimanera), it was reported at the meeting this Tuesday of the Group temporary work of the Government for the prevention and control of Covid-19.

What are the new rates for water and sewer service?
The new rates for services associated with the supply of water and sewerage have generated diverse opinions in the population. Kuwait Supports Rehabilitation of Cuban Water Supply Networks
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, has maintained an important cooperation with Cuba in the rehabilitation of water supply networks in several provinces and the capital, according to an official from that institution attending the Cubagua-2015 forum, running here. In conversation with Prensa Latina, the manager of that mechanism for this region, Abdullah Kh al-Musaibeeh, stated that about four cooperation projects are being implemented in Santiago de Cuba, Holguin and Havana.
