Diaz-Canel praises pediatric clinical trials against Covid-19 in Cuba
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday described as transcendental the approval by health authorities of the start of the anti-Covid-19 clinical trials in pediatric people, using the vaccine candidates from the Caribbean island. The proven safety of Soberana02 and SoberanaPlus has made it possible to take this step, among the first in the world, said the president on his Twitter account, where he thanked Cuban scientists for this achievement.

Havana clinics prepare for mass vaccination against COVID-19
Although health authorities have yet to set the starting date for mass vaccination against COVID-19 in Cuba, authorities in Havana are working at an accelerated pace to prepare clinical sites that will undertake the important, complex task. According to the digital version of the weekly Tribuna de La Habana, next Saturday, April 24, both the logistic and human resources to guarantee the quality of the process should be defined, including the selected medical offices and polyclinics.

Soberana 02, the first Latin American vaccine in phase III trials
The Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed) has authorized the initiation of phase III clinical trials of the Soberana 02 candidate vaccine, after a rigorous analysis of the documentation submitted by the Finlay Vaccine Institute on findings gathered thus far. President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez yesterday also posted a tweet noting that phase III clinical trials were at hand for Soberana 02 and Abdala, in Havana, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo, with more than 85,000 volunteers.

Cuba reports 1,039 Covid-19 new cases and five deaths
The national director of Epidemiology at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Dr. Francisco Duran, reported 1,039 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths over the last 24 hours. At his regular press conference on television on Sunday, Dr. Duran explained that 18,156 PCR tests in real time were made to detect the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

A million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to be available in April
The director of the Finlay Vaccine Institute, Vicente Vérez Bencomo, stated that mass production of the Soberana series of candidate vaccines has begun, and Cuba can expect to have one million doses on hand in April.
