The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Revolutionizing our thinking about employment issues

A total of 57 measures to be implemented immediately, in the short and medium term, proposed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the University of Havana’s Economics Department were recently evaluated by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, during a review of employment programs.

The 9th Congress of the University Students” Federation (FEU) opened in this capital today to discuss issues such as teaching, social work and political-ideological commitment. In addition to the official opening of the Congress at Havana’s Convention Center, the structure of the National Council and the candidacy for the national secretariat of FEU will be presented and approved today.

Cubans Remember 61st Anniversary of Presidential Palace Attack

Cubans are remembering today the 61st Anniversary of the Attack on the Presidential Palace, the national news radio station ”Radio Reloj” in Havana and the death of student leader José Antonio Echeverría in March, 1957. Those armed actions were carried out by a group of youth from the Revolutionary Directorate, armed wing of the University Students Federation.

University of Havana to host Havmun 2016

March 29, through April 1, Havmun 2016 is taking at the University of Havana (UH). Sponsored by the United Nations organization in Cuba, the Federation of University Students and the Foreign Ministry, the conference is focused on discussing and proposing solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.

Preparatory courses for university entrance about to begin

BEGINNING October 5, preparatory courses for higher education entrance exams, lasting 28 or 56 weeks, will start as part of the country’s adult education system, which since 2009 has offered the opportunity to workers or those who have been out of the classroom for a long time and wish to undertake university studies. Adult education is currently focused on these programs, with the hope of perfecting them, as noted by the Master of Science graduate, Regla Lovaina, acting director of this department of the Education Ministry.
