Cuban hepatitis B medication undergoing clinical trials

A Cuban medication to treat chronic hepatitis B, HeberNasvac, created by scientists at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Center (CIGB), is currently undergoing clinical trials in collaboration with the French company Abivax. The product has been undergoing safety and efficacy tests for several years, stated a CIGB specialist.

Cuba nationalizes U.S. companies

As an aggressive move against the Cuban people in 1960, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s administration reduced Cuba’s sugar quota – the market share allotted to Cuba. (Seewww.granma.cu/cuba/2015-07-06/sin-cuota-pero-sin-amo – Spanish). Congress awarded the President the authority to make such a decision, allowing him to use regulatory mechanisms for the purpose of coercion and reprisals against the Cuban Revolution.

Raúl meets with President of El Salvador

President Raúl Castro Ruz held a meeting with his counterpart from El Salvador, Salvador Sánchez Cerén, President of the sister republic. The two leaders reaffirmed the positive bilateral relations shared by their countries and discussed prospects for expanding cooperation. Cuba’s participation as guest country of honor in the 10th edition of the Pan African Music Festival (FESPAM) was the motive for the meeting held between Jean-Claude Gakosso, Congolese minister of Culture and Arts and Maydolis B. Sosa Hilton, Cuba’s acting ambassador in this country. Minister Gakosso expressed his profound gratitude to the Cuban diplomatic delegation in Brazzaville and the county’s Ministry of Culture for participating in the recently concluded Music Festival, which saw performances by the emblematic Aragón orchestra

Colombian Peace Talk to Restart on August 17

The delegation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People”s Army (FARC-EP) and the government will restart talks on August 17 in a further effort to achieve peace in that South American nation.
The guerrillas urged yesterday to deepen significant progress achieved in the context of those talks, after considering that there is no coherence between what happens in the negotiation table and what happens in Colombia.
