The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

A cannon salute for the Revolution and victory
In a salute to the 57th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, 21 rounds of artillery were fired from the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fortress in Havana, to honor the homeland’s martyrs, our courageous people and the revolutionary victory. The firing of a battery of six 122 millimeter shells M-30, by 30 cadets from the Revolutionary Armed Forces’ General Antonio Maceo School resounded in the night air to welcome a new year of challenges.

Machado Ventura visits agricultural and sugar entities in Mayabeque
José Ramón Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Party Central Committee and a vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, visited three sugar mills in the province of Mayabeque, together with agricultural producers dedicated to cultivating potatoes in the municipalities of Güines, Melena del Sur, Batabanó and Quivicán, this Wednesday, December 30.

Josefina Vidal assures that Cuba and the U.S. have made progress

Cuban tourism: broad foreign investment opportunities
Together with food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, tourism features among key spheres opening the doors to Cuban development. In a recent interview, the President of Cuba’s Chamber of Commerce, Orlando Hernández, noted the importance of foreign resources, in the form of credit (the country is currently unable to access certain sources given blockade restrictions) or investments, in helping to achieve greater domestic growth.

Raúl receives the President of Costa Rica
Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received Luis Guillermo Solís, President of the Republic of Costa Rica this Tuesday, December 15, during an official visit to the island.In a cordial atmosphere, the two leaders exchanged views on the good state of bilateral relations and agreed on the desire to strengthen them.
