The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Pope Francis thanks the Cuban people for their welcome
During a meeting with families, today September 22 in Santiago, the Pope emphasized the ability of Cuba’s people to welcome a visitor. “We are among family, and when we are with family, we feel at home… Thank you, Cubans, for making me feel among family these days, making me feel at home… this meeting with you is like the dried fruit in the cake.”

Pope Francis officiates mass in the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre
This morning Pope Francis officiated a mass in the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre, which was attended by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers who, as he told the Pontiff, has participated in all three ceremonies officiated by His Holiness in Cuba.

Tribute to Frank País and the martyrs of the Revolution

Raul Castro Presided Over May Day Parade in Santiago de Cuba
Cuban President Raul Castro attended the May Day parade in eastern Santiago de Cuba city, according to a live report of the Cuban television. Raul was accompanied by Santiago de Cuba’s Communist Party First Secretary Lazaro Exposito, and other leaders of grassroots organizations. In the Mariana Grajales square’s grandstand there were several Labor Heroes, union leaders and founders of the Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC) along with members of foreign delegations.

Speech at the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution
In a day like this, our first thoughts are for those who fell in this long struggle. They constitute a paradigm and a symbol of the efforts and sacrifices of millions of Cubans. Closely united in the clamor of battle, waging the powerful weapons embodied in Fidel’s leadership, his teachings and his example, we have learned how to transform our dreams into a reality; how to keep our heads cool and our confidence in the face of dangers and threats; how to get over the big setbacks; how to turn every challenge into a victory and to overcome adversity, no matter how insurmountable they might have seem.
