The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Raúl holds official talks with the President of Namibia
During the fraternal meeting, both leaders noted the excellent state of bilateral relations and reiterated their willingness to further strengthen them, in line with the historic ties that unite the two countries. They also addressed other issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agenda.

Is finished the myth of Internet censorship in Cuba?
So far, the international press told us that the Cuban government was hindering the internet development in the Island on their quest for controlling the information.
Interestingly, these same mass media reported a few months ago, about the licenses granted by the US President to American companies in the sector to reach investment agreements with Cuban state company ETECSA in order to improve Internet on the Island

Cuba and Namibia are great friends
The first place I wanted to visit outside of Africa was Cuba, that’s why I’m here, noted Namibian President Hage Gottfried Geingob on arrival to the José Martí International Airport on August 14, where he was received by Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations Rogelio Sierra and Namibia’s ambassador on the island, Jerobeam Shaanika.

Welcome Pope Francis
Pope Francis, the Pontiff of the Catholic Church, and the head of state of Vatican City, will make an apostolic visit to Cuba, September 19-22. Beginning with his arrival in Havana, he will receive a cordial welcome from the Cuban government and the capital city’s people. Pope Francis will be able to appreciate the respect, affection and hospitality which we will all proffer during his stay in our homeland.

Díaz–Canel meets with Cuban religious representatives and fraternal associations
The First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, met with almost a hundred representatives of different religious institutions and fraternal associations on Monday, September 14, at the Party Central Committee, as part of the dialogues initiated a little over 30 years ago, with the first meeting between Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro and the Cuban Council of Churches.

Party municipal assemblies meet
This weekend, September 12-13, 27 Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) municipal assemblies met, in preparation for the upcoming 7th Congress, thus initiating a process which will continue through the month of October.Among the principal issues discussed were local implementation of the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines approved by the 6th Party Congress, as well objectives established by the First Party Conference. Municipal committees and bureaus which will lead the Party’s work locally were also elected.

Raúl receives Panamanian President
During the friendly meeting, the two Presidents discussed prospects for expanding ties between the two countries, in particular in cooperative efforts and trade. Cuba-U.S. Bilateral Commission holds first meeting
On the morning of Friday September 11, the Cuban and U.S. delegations initiated the first Bilateral Commission meeting, with the aim of establishing an agenda of topics to be addressed following the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States. The Cuban delegation was led by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, the Foreign Ministry’s director general for the United States, while the U.S. State Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for South America and Cuba, Edward Alex Lee, presided the U.S. delegation.

Deserters Cuban doctors in Colombia: disposable puppets against Cuba – US dialogue and… against Venezuela
The Cuban-American extreme right-wing is still looking for arguments to attack the restoration of relations between Cuba and US. And by the way, to damage the image of the Government of Venezuela. One of the most recent episodes: the case of a group of Cuban doctors who, having abandoned their mission in Venezuela and sought asylum in the US Embassy in Colombia, had taken months without any response from the US authorities.
