The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Pope Francis arrives tomorrow
Pope Francis, the Pontiff of the Catholic Church and Vatican City head of state will arrive in Cuba Saturday, September 19 to begin an apostolic visit which will continue through the 22nd. The Pope will have a courtesy meeting with the President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Raúl Castro Ruz, and complete a program of pastoral activities in Havana, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.

Cuba presents report on the need to end the blockade
Today, September 16, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla presented, to the press, the United Nations Report 69/5, entitled “The Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.” Rodríguez denounced the damage caused by this hostile policy for over five decades, which has cost the country billions, and has hampered the comprehensive development of Cuba’s children and youth.

The green Varadero of Cuba
For the third time since 2000, Pinar del Río will showcase the many qualities which make it Cuba’s number one nature tourism destination. Playing host to the 10th International Nature Tourism Event (TURNAT), from September 22-27, the island’s largest catalogue of nature tourism products (43) will be presented in Cuba’s western-most province.

Raúl’s attendance at UN General Assembly confirmed
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez announced today in a press conference that Cuban President Raúl Castro will participate in the United Nations General Assembly sessions and high level discussion, on September 25 and 28, respectively. During his stay in New York, the Army General and President of Cuba will additionally attend a conference on the empowerment of women, and hold meetings with sectors of U.S. society and representatives of the solidarity with Cuba movement, Rodríguez said.

Raúl holds official talks with the President of Namibia
During the fraternal meeting, both leaders noted the excellent state of bilateral relations and reiterated their willingness to further strengthen them, in line with the historic ties that unite the two countries. They also addressed other issues of mutual interest on the international and regional agenda.

Is finished the myth of Internet censorship in Cuba?
So far, the international press told us that the Cuban government was hindering the internet development in the Island on their quest for controlling the information.
Interestingly, these same mass media reported a few months ago, about the licenses granted by the US President to American companies in the sector to reach investment agreements with Cuban state company ETECSA in order to improve Internet on the Island

Cuba and Namibia are great friends
The first place I wanted to visit outside of Africa was Cuba, that’s why I’m here, noted Namibian President Hage Gottfried Geingob on arrival to the José Martí International Airport on August 14, where he was received by Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations Rogelio Sierra and Namibia’s ambassador on the island, Jerobeam Shaanika.

Díaz–Canel meets with Cuban religious representatives and fraternal associations
The First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, met with almost a hundred representatives of different religious institutions and fraternal associations on Monday, September 14, at the Party Central Committee, as part of the dialogues initiated a little over 30 years ago, with the first meeting between Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro and the Cuban Council of Churches.
