The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

The road to victory begins
Where the expeditionaries landed, the sea was shallow and calm. Three men jumped from the boat. Juan Almeida observed, “At first the water reached their waists, then their chests, their chins … then again, below their necks, their chests. Ecuadorian Consulate in Havana addresses Cuban citizens
With the purpose of controlling the movement of persons who are targeted by human trafficking networks, protecting the physical integrity of those whose lives are at risk, and stopping any attempt to violate human rights, Ecuador has made a commitment to the Cuban government, and to the Latin American and Caribbean Community, to make a contribution to protecting Cuban citizens given the vulnerability they could face if they come under the influence of traffickers who offer them the possibility of leaving the country and, especially, of reaching the United States.

Ecuador announces visa requirements for Cuban citizens
Among measures being taken by countries of the region to contain irregular migration of Cuban citizens, the Ecuadoran government has decided to establish a tourist or visitor visa requirement as of December 1, for citizens from the Republic of Cuba who wish to enter the country.

March to remember and express solidarity
To honor the memory of eight medical students killed November 27, 114 years ago, by Spanish colonialists, thousands of members of Cuba’s University Students Federation (FEU) will march today, departing from the University of Havana’s Grand Staircase at 4:00pm.
The demonstration is also dedicated this year to the Henry Reeve Brigade of Cuban doctors offering solidarity around the world, in emergency situations.

Cuba and U.S. sign memorandum of understanding
The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation for the Conservation and Management of Protected Marine Areas is the first document regarding environmental issues, to be signed between Cuba and the U.S. since the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, noted Dr. Fernando Mario González Ber múdez, first deputy minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).
