The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

For peace in Colombia: Commitment, coherence and responsibility.
Cuban Foreign Ministry releases statement in the wake of recent events in Colombia, reaffirming our commitment to continue cooperating in the search for peace and calling for adherence to the accords signed in Havana in 2016. Faced with information of this nature, involving a possible event that could put the lives of innocent people at risk, the Cuban Ambassador in Colombia, José Luis Ponce.

In support of peace in Colombia: commitment, consistency and responsibility
The Embassy of Cuba in Colombia received information -whose credibility could not be assessed- in relation to an alleged military attack by the Oriental War Front of the ELN that would take place in the course of the next few days in Bogotá. The ELN’s Peace Delegation in Havana was immediately advised of said information. The ELN’s Peace Delegation claimed it was completely unaware.

Colombia votes No to peace deal
The option not to ratify the peace agreement between the government of Juan Manuel Santos and FARC-EP won with 50,23% (6,428,776 votes) after the results of 99.76 % of polling stations had been collected; while the “yes” vote garnered 49,76% (6,369,008 ballots), according to information released by electoral authorities.

President of Colombia arrives in Havana
Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santos, arrived today in Havana where he will hold a meeting with senior FARC-EP leader, Timoleón Jiménez, with the aim of accelerating the peace process begun in 2012, reported Prensa Latina. Santos arrived in Cuba to participate “In a Colombia peace talks ceremony, in which important agreements regarding special jurisdiction for peace, established by the parties during the talks, will be announced”

Peace is close for Colombia
After nearly three years of peace talks in Havana, Colombia is about to take another step towards the political solution of the political, military and social conflict it has endured for over half a century. President Juan Manuel Santos made a stopover in Havana to meet with the negotiating team and accelerate the peace process.
“Peace is close,” the president tweeted.
