The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Yirmara and journalism at the foot of danger

Yirmara is not going to like this chronicle. What’s more, she warned me not to write it. Maybe she thinks she doesn’t deserve it. Perhaps it will do everything possible so that some Google mechanism hides it in the cloud and nobody ever finds it in the infinity of networks. She won’t want anyone to read it. And I really do apologize. I will not be a flatterer, because I hate it, and so does she, and a flattering chronicle there is no God who reads it to her. Yirmara is not going to like this chronicle, but I have to write it.

My photographer is brave

Now I allow myself to publish this photo. Lady (Irene Pérez) is also pretty. Lady brings them. I have seen her in these hard and sad days almost sink into her foam, looking for the exact angle. I have seen her “test strength” to get on a water pipe and approach the area of the fire at the Matanzas super tanker base. I have seen Lady get excited with her faces, looking with the heart that she has.

Twitter suspends Granma’s account and those of other Cuban media

The suspension notification does not state the reason why the @Granma_Digital account was disabled, and although efforts have been made to reactivate it, no action has been successful. Editors and administrators of various media in Cuba, such as Cubadebate, Mesa Redonda, the Caribe television broadcaster, and Radio Rebelde, have also reported on Facebook and other channels, the suspension of their Twitter accounts without cause.

No laughing matter

News that a federal institution of the United States plans to spend taxpayer money on attacking Cuban leaders through a “humorous” television series revived the debate over the effectiveness and relevance of subversive programs against Cuba, especially when both governments are seeking to normalize relations.
