The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

On June 9, Cuba’s First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Ca nel, highlighted the existence of differences and common challenges between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe and called for a constructive dialogue between both regions.
President Chavez presented his annual report on activities carried out in 2011 and his program for 2012 to the Venezuelan Parliament. After thoroughly carrying out the formalities required by this important activity, he addressed the official state authorities, members of parliament from all parties, and supporters and opposition members who had come to the Assembly to participate in the country’s most solemn act.
Cuban filmmaker Ian Padron said it was an honor to receive the Glauber Rocha 2011 award, which carries the name, he said, of one of the filmmakers he admires the most. Rocha was one of the most important Latin American filmmakers, and the father of the new Latin American cinema. Â¿The award also has a special meaning for me. I was born the same day of the creator of Entranced Earth and God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun,Â¿ said Padron.
