Cuba denies news of the alleged release of two abducted Cuban doctors

Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios, general director of Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs department of Press, Communication and Image, denied information that was circulated this morning and been repeated by the press and on digital social media, regarding the alleged release of the two abducted Cuban doctors, Assel Herrera Correa and Landy Rodríguez Hernández.

Cuban and Kenyan Foreign Ministers discuss efforts to win release of abducted doctors

True to the principle of never abandoning a single one of our sons or daughters, cautious, ongoing efforts continue to ensure the safe return of two Cuban doctors abducted in Kenya, while serving on an internationalist collaborative mission there. Via his official Twitter account, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reported, August 28, that he had held a lengthy dialogue with his Kenyan counterpart to address the sensitive issue.

Cuba launches medical collaboration with Kenya

Some 101 Cuban doctors arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on the morning of June 8, to begin offering medical services in the country. The historic initiative comes after Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, made an official visit to the island in March, 2018. The “army of white coats” features doctors specializing in various fields who will be supporting the work of Kenya’s healthcare institutions throughout the country.
