The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Symbolic Caravan of Victory Arrives in Havana
Havana, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) The symbolic Caravan of the Victory arrives today in Havana, to complete its tour as it was done by the Rebel Army headed by Fidel Castro, the leader after the revolutionary triumph of 1959. Youth and members of the historic rebel army crossed the nation to commemorate the historic deed that began on January 2, 1959, in Santiago de Cuba on the eastern region of this island.

Chavez Returns to Venezuela from Havana
Caracas, Mar 29 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived here on Thursday from Havana, where he traveled on March 24 to receive radiotherapy treatment.The statesman arrived at the Simon Bolivar International Airport of Maiquetia, in Vargas state, at midnight, he explained later at the Miraflores Palace during a video conference with Mario Silva, presenter of the TV program La Hojilla, which started at 01:00 hours, local time, on Friday.

Havana, March 27 (PL) Pope Benedict XVI will be held here today a comprehensive program of activities including a meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro, during the second day of the Pope on the island.According to the agenda of the visit, the dialogue with the administrator of the Caribbean will be held in the afternoon at the Revolution Palace in Havana, where it is expected that both heads of state to conduct a courtesy to the people on the stairs of the building.

Persevering
It’s a little after 10am and Diana is swimming strongly. We are 67 nautical miles from Cuba. She has a strong heart rate of 85 and is persevering. The challenge will be the prospect of crossing the Gulf Stream to reach land. Every professional aboard the flotilla, whether they be physicians or international marathon swimming hall of fame representatives, is astounded at this achievement, even to this point.

Encountering Extraordinary Animals
This afternoon – it is stunning to actually witness – Diana is swimming stronger and stronger. Her strokes are up to 50 per minute, she is eating pasta, gobbling bananas, bits of peanut butter sandwiches, along with high-carb & high calorie liquid concoctions. Bonnie Stoll has not left her side.

Eusebio Leal was Awarded Honoris Causa Title In Spain
The Spanish University of Alicante (UA) conferred it’s Honoris Causa doctorate to the Historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal. At the ceremony, the house of higher studies highlighted Leal work in the process of restoration and conservation of the historic area of Havana, combined with the economic and social development of his community.
