The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Cuba thanks Mexico for sending material for the recovery of the electrical system in the West
Cuban authorities thanked Mexico on Monday for sending 113 tons of resources for the recovery of the electrical system in western Cuba. The Minister of Energy and Mines, Liván Arronte Cruz, during the reception at the José Martí International Airport for the last of the 16 flights, with around 13 tons of post-type insulators, recognized the presence of 17 technicians and specialists in generation in Cuba and the strength of bilateral relations.

Díaz-Canel recorre central termoeléctrica Ernesto Guevara, en Santa Cruz del Norte
El presidente cubano, Miguel Díaz-Canel, llegó esta mañana a la central termoeléctrica Ernesto Guevara, en Santa Cruz del Norte, provincia Mayabeque, donde se trabaja sin descanso para recuperar potencia en la generación que se aportará a la sincronización del sistema electroenergético nacional (SEN), informó la Presidencia en su cuenta en Twitter. Poco antes de la llegada del mandatario, la unidad 2 de esa CTE ya estaba aportando 23 MW a parte del SEN del occidente de Cuba.

All of Puerto Rico is without electricity due to the passage of Hurricane Fiona
Puerto Rico has been left without electricity this Sunday due to the passage of Hurricane Fiona, whose strong winds and heavy rains are already felt on the Caribbean island. According to the PowerOutage.us portal, the blackout affects a total of 1,468,223 customers. According to the latest bulletin from the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), Fiona is located about 80 kilometers from the coast of the island. It is specified that the cyclone generates maximum sustained winds of 128 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 160 kilometers per hour.

Díaz-Canel visits the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant, in Mariel
According to the twitter of the Presidencia Cuba, Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel made a tour of the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant in Mariel this Saturday morning. Unit 8 of it, which went out of service last night, is already in the start-up process and should be online at noon this Saturday, with 85 MW. In addition, work is being done to recover unit 6, damaged by a fire last March. During the tour, Díaz-Canel updated on the strategy outlined in the country for the recovery of the electrical system.

Cuban government checks epidemiological situation and other issues related to the population
Actions to control dengue in the country continue; In recent days, there has been an improvement in the confrontation efforts, however, at the end of last week, transmission was reported in 14 provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, 41 municipalities, and 50 health areas. Using waste from rice processing to generate energy
Cuban experts, with advice from India, have set up a plant that will allow the use of rice husks to generate electricity. The work is being carried out at the Enrique Troncoso mill, the largest in the province, affiliated with the Los Palacios Agroindustrial Enterprise, where this new technology will make it possible to save more than 200 tons of diesel a year.
