Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The return to Cuba of the four anti-terrorist fighters who remain imprisoned in the United States is a priority for Rene Gonzalez, who started the procedures to renounce his U.S. citizenship yesterday in this capital. “Until they all are here we must continue fighting (…) They will resist, they will not yield,” Rene told the reporters after beginning the procedures to renounce his citizenship at the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, accompanied by his lawyer Philip Horowitz.

Havana, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) René Gonzalez, one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly convicted in the United States, is in this capital on a private and family visit, national media reported today. René is being held on U.S. soil for three years of supervised release, despite having served his sentence, and following the death of his father, Candido Gonzalez, he asked for permission to the Court for the Southern District of Florida to be with his family.

Textbook in France will Include Caricature of Cuban Anti-terrorist

A cartoon of Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, drawn at the maximum security prison in Victorville California, United States, was chosen to illustrate a chapter of a textbook that will be used in several Spanish schools in France. The book is being published in Paris and will begin to be used in April 2013 by students in their preparatory year to college. In its first edition 10,000 copies will be printed.

The case of the Cuban 5 is known by unions across Canada, Great Britain and other countries because on several occasions the mothers and wives of the Five have been invited to speak at labor conferences in those countries. And now in the United States, for the first time, hundreds of women from the United Steelworkers (USW) got to hear about the injustice committed against the Five and their families.

Spain Claims U.S. President the Release of the Cuban Five

Madrid, Feb 13 (Prensa Latina) The Spanish movement of solidarity with Cuba called today U.S. President Barack Obama to immediately release the five antiterrorist fighters of the Caribbean island unjustly held since 1998 in that northern country, for preventing their people from violence. Puerta del Sol square in Madrid was the scene of a rally, in which many organizations asked the U.S. president to free Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, and Ramon Labañino.

US Committee to Free The Cuban Five Announces Panel Discussion

Washington, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) The U.S. National Committee to free five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters jailed in the United States has announced an upcoming panel discussion with prominent intellectuals to present the truth about those men. That organization, headquartered in the city of California, San Francisco, will hold the event on February 20 at the University of Maryland, with the objective of publicizing the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez.

Over 100 people attend Montreal cartoon exhibit of Gerardo Hernández

The exhibition/meeting was jointly organized on January 24 by the local Montreal branch of the CSN (one of the largest Quebec unions) and the Comité Fabio Di Celmo. The goal was to build support for the freedom of the Cuban Five as part of the worldwide effort. The attendees examined and reflected upon the exhibit. Dominique Daigneault, General Secretary of the Conseil central du Montréal métropolitain (CCMM-CSN), the sponsor of the event, said in her introductory remarks that she was moved to see so many people despite the record-breaking close to minus 40 degrees centigrade temperature.

They are images that speak for themselves, according to a communiqué received today in Prensa Latina.
