The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Farewell to one of the most faithful revolutionaries

President of Vietnam arrives in Cuba
“I come with the aim of strengthening the ties of friendship between Cuba and Vietnam and continuing to work together to build socialism,” the President of Vietnam, Truong Tan Sang, stated upon arriving to the country. The Vietnamese leader sent greetings to the Cuban people and highlighted the excellent state of relations between the two nations, “engendered by the friendship between Uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh) and compañero Fidel.”

U.S.-Cuba Business Council created in Washington
The U.S.-Cuba Business Council was inaugurated on September 25 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters, in Washington D.C. The body aims to foment a strategic trade relationship between the two countries, establish business sector ties and promote the identification of business opportunities for both nations, according to the Cuban Embassy in Washington’s website.

President Correa thanks Cuba for medical cooperation
This past September, during the inauguration of an ambulatory clinic at Guayaquil’s Abel G. Pontón Hospital, President Rafael Correa reported that during his administration medical services have been doubled, with doctor visits increasing from 16 to 36 million, thanks to the Citizens Revolution and Cuban cooperation.
According to Cubaminrex website, Cuba’s collaboration began in 2012 with 75 medial professionals in Ecuador, a figure which has now reached 816, as a result of 11 agreements, nine with the country’s Ministry of Public Health and two with its Social Security Institute.
