The El Paso Diary is written by José Pertierra--an attorney who represents the government of Venezuela in its request for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles. Pertierra´s journals describe the testimony, evidence, legal skirmishes, quirks and follies of this very historic trial that features for the first time the close collaboration of the United States government with Cuban authorities to prosecute an ex CIA agent who is one of the masterminds of the fifty-year old dirty war against Cuba.

Forum Opens in Havana a World Solidarity Program with the Cuban Five
Havana, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) An experience exchange called “Five Days for the Cuban Five” will be the beginning in this capital today of a global program of solidarity with the Cuban antiterrorist fighters, about to turn 15 years imprisoned in the United States. The campaign will run until October 6, to mobilize international public opinion to achieve the release of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, and Fernando Gonzalez.

Cuba’s National Ballet to Tour of Spain
Havana, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), directed by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, will begin on September 6 a tour of the main theaters of Spain, to be run until December. The company will offer full versions of classics such as “Swan Lake” and “Shakespeare and his masks,” the latter based on Romeo and Juliet work, with music by French Charles Gounod.

More than 60 Inmates on Strike in US Prison in Guantanamo
Washington, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) More than 60 prisoners at the U.S. base in Guantanamo Bay, in eastern Cuba, remain on hunger strike today, six months after the beginning of the protest. Since Last February 6, the prisoners kept fasting as a reaction to the abuses committed against them and the conditions of their detention for more than a decade, without any official charges in most cases.

FARC: Legal Framework for Peace Must Derive from Joint Analysis
Havana, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) said today in Cuba that a Legal Framework for Peace in that South American nation must be a result of analysis and joint decisions. In a statement read by the guerrilla delegation member Pablo Catatumbo, the FARC-EP alluded to the agreement with that objective that has been debated several months ago for many entities of the State powers of that South American country.

Solidarity with Cuba in Venezuelan Fine Arts
Caracas, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) Solidarity with Cuba finds space today in the Venezuelan Fine Arts through the exhibition Three Great Leaders of America, with works that pay tribute to Simon Bolivar, Cuban national hero Jose Marti, and Commander Hugo Chavez.
The Caracas Museum hosts the exhibition of three dozen works by 23 artists from different states of the country, in an action that is part of the 7th Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, scheduled for July 24 to 27 in the capital.

Serbians Demand Release of Cuban Antiterrorists
Belgrade, Jul 19 (Prensa Latina) More than 100 Serbians demanded the release of the Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States, during a ceremony in the city of Pirot, southeast of the country, diplomatic sources informed. Cuban Parlmt’s Committees to Open Session
Havana, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The ten standing working commissions of the Cuban People’s Power National Assembly will meet in this capital July 4-5, offical source announced. These meetings are part of the activities that precede the First Ordinary Session of the 8th Legislature, scheduled for Saturday, July 6, at Havana’s Conference Center.
